For your pleasure there now follows a directory of the supper clubs we attended (and spoke to). We hope that you will visit as many of them as possible when possible – NOTE, many of these clubs sell out EXTREMELY QUICKLY so get your social media skills up to scratch or you may miss out…

CHAI LOUNGE

Established – October 2011
Host – Meena
Seats – 10 people, 1 table
Food style – food is served family style, predominantly Indian regional food, inspired by Meena’s Mum and Granny
Table style – retro
Themes – yes, Indian regional food themes – south Indian for next event
Frequency – monthly
Favourite recipe book – Anjum Anand’s Indian Food Made Easy and Rick Stein’s Fish recipes
Future – Chai Lounge is a new kid on the supper club block, plans are for monthly ‘eatings’ and then Meena has wild dreams of a street food van serving up simple home cooking, café culture style.

CHARLIE & EVEYLN’S TABLE

Established - December 2009
Hosts – Rachel and Chris Rowley
Seats – 8 people, 1 table
Food style – bistro style, restaurant aspirations
Table style – eclectic
Themes – yes, loosely seasonal
Frequency – once a month although may do more next year
Favourite recipe book – Sarah Raven’s Garden Cookbook, Nigel Slater’s Tender
Future – currently on a break but will return in April 2012 and hope to do 3 supper clubs a month on a consecutive Thursday, Friday and Saturday

CRESCENT DINING

Established – August 2011
Hosts – Lesley and Calum Evans
Seats – 12 people, 1 table
Food style – fine dining
Table style – modern classic
Themes – seasonal
Frequency – 3 times a week during August, now monthly
Favourite recipe book – inspired by Ottolenghi and Mark Hix
Future – plan to hold 2 supper clubs a month soon on a consecutive Friday and Saturday night, Calum the chef has aspirations to own and run his own restaurant, a future Dominic Jack in the making.

INSIDE OUT CHEF

Established – August 2011
Host – Wendy Paterson
Seats – 14-15 people around one table
Food style – home cooking to share
Table style – classic
Themes – sharing but changes with each event
Frequency – 4-5 times per year
Favourite recipe book – Wendy loves Nigella but enjoys sharing recipes on twitter with fellow home chefs.
Future – wants to get the message out to more people about Supper Clubs so plenty of networking, tweeting and speaking to people about this new way to ‘eat out’. Has just announced plans for Hogmanay dinner.

KITCHEN PORTER

Established – October 2010
Host – Mark Porter
Seats – up to 18, up to 3 tables
Food style – modern European, aspires to his Michelin training
Table style – white linen, white plate settings, fine dining
Themes – seasonal
Frequency – a few times a month
Favourite recipe book – takes inspiration from Marco Pierre White, Ferran Adris (El Bulli) and Thomas Keller (the French Laundry).
Future – will continue to have ‘eatings’ a few times a month, may do a singles night next year.

MY HOME SUPPER CLUB

Established - May 2011
Host – Aoife Behan
Seats – 12 people, 2 tables
Food style – Victorian Adventurer – loves traditional British food but often experiments with spices from lands far away
Table style – post-war glamour
Themes – yes, such as ‘Nose to Tail’ and ‘Life of Pie’. Guests enjoy experiencing something different on each visit and with many repeat guests this is something that is important to Aoife.
Frequency – fortnightly
Favourite recipe book – if pushed it would be Harold McGee on Food and Cooking. Aoife researches furiously for her themes and often buys new cook books as a result. A few other favourites include Anissa Helou on Middle Eastern food, Fergus Henderson (Aoife’s HERO!) on Nose to Tail and Clarissa Dickson Wright on game.
Future – Will continue exploring new ideas and themes for fortnightly eatings.

Frequency – every 6 to 8 weeks

Future – early days for Table For Ten, the next event will be a Burns Supper

Food style – seasonal, local with the focus firmly on flavour, fun and simplicity
Table style – dependant on event
Themes – no
Frequency – bi-monthly
Favourite recipe book - The French Laundry, Thomas Keller
Future – just starting off….watch this space

QUEEN OF TARTS

Established – May 2010
Host – Angela Dolan, the Queen herself
Seats – 13 people around 3 tables
Food style – classic British high tea with a twist
Table style – thoroughly vintage, shabby chic
Themes – seasonal and 99% vegetarian
Frequency – monthly
Favourite recipe book – the Mary Berry bible! Angela also uses the Good Food website, and various afternoon tea books. She does not follow recipes to the letter and always likes to add a twist.
Future – big plans to go mobile in 2012, the Queen of Tarts will be available to ‘pop-up’ at events, birthday parties, family get-togethers etc. Currently planning a ‘gentleman’s high tea party’ for early next year.
